ANDREA RIDOUT, EXECUTIVE PRODUCER / HOST
Andrea Ridout is the Host and Executive Producer of DOWN TO EARTH. She conceived the project as a way to showcase eco-friendly folks across Texas and the country as a whole. Andrea is a veteran of radio and TV, hosting a national home improvement radio show, Ask Andrea, for nearly a decade. In the last few years, she has concentrated on green programming, beginning with co-hosting The Energy Show in 2006 and culminating with writing, producing and hosting Mother Earth News Radio, a national program that aired through spring 2011. Her other radio credits include hosting energizeGreen and co-hosting The Marty Griffin Show as well as numerous guest appearances on programs as diverse as Martha Stewart Radio and Daybreak USA.
Andrea’s energy has made her a popular expert on national and regional television. She is currently the eco field correspondent on Dig In-DFW, a North Texas gardening/cooking show with Neil Sperry. Other regular TV gigs have included Fox Good Day, Hot on Homes and Designing Texas. She was also the cast “Cool Tool” gal on DIY’s Tools and Techniques, part of the Scripps Network. Andrea’s articles, expertise and product critiques have been in scores of magazines and newspapers such as Reader’s Digest, Women’s Day, Country Home and Old House Interiors - as well as in her own book, If I Had a Hammer, published by Harper Collins. The Washington Post calls her ‘Little Miss Fix-Up’.
Andrea doesn’t know a stranger and her friends include ranchers and farmers, writers and artists, TV and radio hosts plus a bevy of other fascinating folks. A naturalist at heart, Andrea often spends her spare time volunteering at community gardens or in animal rehab. When not at her home in Dallas, she can be found in the country with her Simmental lap-cows and spunky Scotty dog, Reilly.
